Program Director and Head Coach:  Jorgen Anderson

Jorgen with his daughter Kristen, a former Apex Ski Club racer

I was a racer for the Apex Ski Club in the 1980’s and went on to race many years at the FIS level. When I finished racing, I spent 5 years with the Club as an Assistant Coach and then Head Coach. Feeling the need to move on, I attended the University of Victoria. While attending university, I was a coach for the Mt. Washington Ski Club. After university, I followed my interest to work with developmentally disabled children, specializing in autism. During this time, I also discovered the world of fishing, and I continue to guide in areas all over the West Coast of British Columbia. My wife and I always wanted to return to the Okanagan, and in the summer of 2008, we moved with our daughter back to the Penticton area. This was the best move ever! Skiing, summer, four seasons. I started coaching again, managing the Nancy Greene program for the Club. At this time, the Club was very small but had many eager young skiers. I became Head Coach and Program Director in 2011 and have enjoyed every minute. I am very blessed to have such an amazing Club to work for. Always a believer in following your passion!

I grew up skiing and racing at Panorama as part of the Windermere Valley Ski Club.  There, I had the privilege to work with some fantastic coaches and make some great friends.  As soon as I was old enough, I got my level one coaching (and forever abandoned my career in fast food).  I attended Selkirk College to study Drums and Recording. For a few years, I focused on playing drums and touring with a band while running a recording studio. In 2011, my wife and I decided to shake things up a bit and went to Japan for a season to teach skiing and snowboarding.  Coming home, I decided to turn back to racing with the Windermere Valley Ski Club FIS program.  From there, I was able to work with the Vancouver Ski Team for a great couple of years of travelling with a big team and coaching FIS.   In 2013-14, season I began pursuing education as a strength and conditioning coach so that I could train athletes both on and off the hill. During this season, I coached camps with the Canadian Para-Alpine ski team, and started the next season as the Head Coach for the BC Para-Alpine team. I had a blast with the Para team, and was able to coach a few athletes who moved on to the national team.  I started working with the Apex Ski Club in the 2016-17 season, and walked into one of the most fun coaching jobs I’ve ever had.  It reminds me of my early days at Pano, with great snow, great people, and fast skiers.  The Apex Ski Club is something special, and I am excited to be a part of it.
